Looking forward to the amazing events that will cheer up the capital this Christmas season? Here is a list of 8 free events that are long-time traditions in and around Ottawa during the holiday season. 🎄🎅
1. Ottawa Christmas Market at Lansdowne. It runs for 5 weekends until Christmas. There will be vendors, live music, workshops for kids, beautifully lit decorations, and the tallest Christmas tree in town. Check out: ottawachristmasmarket.com
2. Help Santa Toy Parade
This parade is organized by the Ottawa Professional Firefighters Association. The purpose is to collect donations of new toys along the parade route for children in need. On Nov 19 at 11am the parade will start at City Hall.
3. Christmas Lights Across Canada
From December 8th and throughout the holiday season until January 8th, thousands of multicoloured lights will illuminate and decorate Ottawa's downtown parks, streets and buildings.
4. Santa's Parade of Lights
This parade is also organized by the firefighters with the goal of collecting toys and cash to bring Christmas gifts to children in need. The parade starts at 6pm on Nov 26 from Youville with Saint Joseph Boulevard.
5. Perth Santa Claus Parade
This parade is a long-standing tradition for the Perth community, located one hour from Ottawa. Dec 3 at 5pm at The Factory on Sunset Boulevard in Perth, Ontario. Check out: perthsantaclausparade.com
6. Light Up the Night at Almonte
This is an open-air concert. There will be singing, dancing, puppets, fireworks, magical twinkle fairies, and a special appearance by Santa Claus. Friday, December 2, 2022 at 7 pm. Check out: mississippimills.ca
7. River of Lights at Brockville
This is a light and music show that will run everyday from November 26 to January 2 between 6pm and 10pm. The show lasts 40 minutes before repeating. At Blockhouse Island Parkway, Brockville. Details: brockville.com
8. Taffy Lane
Taffy Lane's neighbors are pretty serious about decorating their houses for Christmas. The entire street is a show of multicoloured lights and amazing decorations.
